He brilliantly played the role of Janosik, but he had a hard time with his co-stars. “It’s about vodka”

Thanks to the already cult series “Janosik”, Marek Perepeczko gained great popularity among viewers. However, it was almost impossible for someone else to play the role of the title character. Years later, it turned out that the actor had a problem with his colleagues from the plan.

Although Jerzy Passendorfer hit the screens in 1973, it is still one of the most popular Polish series. It turns out that while working on the set, he could not find an understanding with the other cast members.

They were drinking and he wouldn’t. The conflict made him almost lose his role in “Janosik”

he stood out among all the actors who auditioned for the role. His physical condition, i.e. height, athletic build and muscular build, made him almost perfect to play this character. – I immediately saw Marek Perepeczka in her, whose acting experience and especially external conditions predestinate for this type of role. (…) He was a thinking, conscious hero, not an adventurer – the director in an interview with “Filmowy Serwis Prasowy”. Although he felt great in this role, numerous conflicts with his colleagues caused him problems.

The members of the crew often organized grand parties in the premises rented by the production in Zakopane. Perepeczko did not want to participate in them. He did not like alcohol and preferred to spend time alone after the set. This often led to disputes, especially with Witold Pyrkosz. “I’ve seen jealous colleagues pull away from him because… he wasn’t getting drunk, he wasn’t having an affair, because he was happy with me.” Witold Pyrkosz had the biggest grudge against him for not being present at parties, that’s when our conflict began. You can say that it was about vodka, because Marek did not drink at all – the actor’s widow, Agnieszka Fitkau-Perepeczko.

He created many outstanding acting creations. He was remembered by the viewers as Janosik

Although the role of Janosik was supposed to be a pass to great fame for Marek Perepeczko, it eventually became a curse. Already during the broadcast of the first episodes, he was put in a drawer, and his career, instead of gaining momentum, stopped. Although he did not regret taking part in the series, after all he appeared regularly on the screen and theaters, the label of “actor of one role” stuck to him, which he could never come to terms with. — I have not played many significant or leading things in my life. My achievements are what they are. Perhaps my predispositions were not used – said Perepeczko. The situation changed only when many years later he created the character of the commander in the audience’s adored “13 Precinct”. Despite this, many still remember Janosik, and the role overshadowed all his other artistic achievements.
