The Consulate of Bulgaria has informed Russian tour operators about the temporary suspension of the acceptance of documents for tourist visas. This, according to RIA Novosti, is reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
ATOR clarified that visas will also temporarily not be issued to property owners in Bulgaria.
The consulate called the reason for such measures “the current emergency”, namely the expulsion of 14 Bulgarian diplomats announced the day before.
When the issuance of tourist visas will resume, ATOR is not reported. However, the association noted that Bulgaria “will look for opportunities” for this.
Recall that Russia expelled 14 Bulgarian diplomats in response to “an unmotivated decision by the Bulgarian side to declare 70 employees of our foreign missions persona non grata and unacceptable, introduce quotas for the number of diplomatic and administrative and technical personnel of Russia in Bulgaria, and also temporarily close the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the city of Ruse.
