Police, together with European Commission (EC) regulators, have raided several buildings of Italian fashion house Gucci in Milan as part of an antitrust investigation. This is reported by TASS with reference to the French group of companies Kering, which owns the Gucci brand.
“In accordance with EU antitrust rules and as part of a preliminary investigation in the field of fashion, the European Commission on April 18, 2023 began an inspection of the Italian divisions of Gucci,” reads a message posted on the holding’s website. – Group [Kering] cooperates continuously with the European Commission in the context of this investigation”.
On April 18, the European Commission announced a campaign to combat violations of EU antitrust rules in fashion. In addition to conducting inspections and searches, the EC sent official requests to fashion houses. The European Commission clarified that searches do not necessarily indicate the involvement of enterprises in violating antitrust rules.
Founded in 1962, the Kering Group is owned by French billionaire Francois Pinault. She owns various luxury brands, including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and others.
