The State Duma Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference on April 18 will consider new amendments to the laws on foreign agents. According to Interfax, this was announced by the chairman of the commission Vasily Piskarev.
According to him, it is proposed to introduce a ban on the receipt of state property support by foreign agents in the law “On Control over the Activities of Persons Under Foreign Influence”. Now they are not entitled to receive only financial support from the state, the deputy recalled.
In addition, the Ministry of Justice is proposed to give authority to exercise state control over compliance with the law on foreign agents. At the moment, the Ministry of Justice exercises state control exclusively in relation to the activities of foreign agents.
“Accordingly, upon receipt of information that someone, through their actions or inaction, contributes to a violation of Russian law by a foreign agent, the Ministry of Justice will be able to issue a warning to him indicating the violation committed and the period for its elimination, which is at least a month,” Piskarev said.
The Code of Administrative Offenses proposes to prescribe fines for failure to comply with the legal order of the Ministry of Justice on the elimination of violations of the law on foreign agents within the prescribed period: for citizens in the amount of up to 50 thousand rubles; for officials – up to 100 thousand rubles; for legal entities – up to 300 thousand rubles.
According to Piskarev, the amendments will eliminate “any loopholes and gaps for those who are under foreign influence and are trying to circumvent our laws.”
