In almost all regions of Russia, ticks have already woken up after winter. According to TASS, this was announced by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
“Ticks have woken up almost everywhere in Russia,” she said. Popova warned that, according to the season, the risk associated with ticks has increased.
She recalled that ticks can carry and transmit to humans about ten dangerous viruses. They also bite animals, and tick-borne viral encephalitis can also be transmitted with raw goat’s milk, so at present it should only be drunk boiled. According to Popova, vaccination is an effective measure to prevent infection with tick-borne viral encephalitis, and there is no shortage of vaccines today.
Earlier, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that since the beginning of the year, more than 2.4 thousand appeals to medical organizations in connection with vinegar ticks have been registered in Russia. This is higher than the average for many years, the service said. At the same time, cases of borreliosis and tick-borne viral encephalitis were not detected.
1.1 million people have already been vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis, and in total this season the authorities plan to vaccinate more than 3 million people.
