Dietitian Anna Belousova warned that too long breaks between meals are fraught with negative health consequences. She told Sputnik radio about this.
According to her, the human body is “programmed” to receive food regularly, and too long a lack of food is stressful for him.
“When the body does not receive food for more than 12 hours, the brain suffers,” the expert noted. Anna Belousova clarified that too long breaks between meals contribute to very sharp fluctuations in glucose levels, which can drop significantly due to a long absence of food. Meanwhile, it is glucose that is the main nutritional component for the brain.
“Sharp fluctuations in blood glucose will first manifest as a mood disorder, and then organic consequences may occur,” the specialist warned.
The nutritionist advised not to subject the body to a 12-hour abstinence from food. At the same time, Belousova added, food in the evening should not be dense and heavy – it is best to eat protein foods that are easily absorbed by the digestive system.
