The Investigative Committee believes that Daria Trepova, who was detained in connection with the explosion in a St. Petersburg cafe, was led from Ukraine.

The explosion occurred on April 2 in a cafe in the center of St. Petersburg. As a result, military correspondent Maxim Fomin, known under the pseudonym Vladlen Tatarsky, died. In addition, 32 people received injuries of varying severity. It is known that 10 people are in serious condition.

Initially, the case was initiated under the article on murder in a generally dangerous way, but now it has been reclassified to Part 3 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act).

Darya Trepova was detained on suspicion of committing a crime.

“The investigation has evidence that the planning and organization of the committed crime were carried out from the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, Daria Trepova, who holds opposition views, is a supporter of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK, an organization recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation, she is also recognized as a foreign agent),” the Investigative Committee reported.

“The investigation establishes the entire chain of persons involved in the commission of the crime, from the perpetrators to the customers,” the RF IC also said in a statement.

The 78.ru portal talked to a classmate of Daria Trepova, with whom she studied at St. Petersburg State University. According to the girl, Trepova, after being expelled from the university, participated in rallies, but was not radical. Married, according to the interlocutor of the publication, Daria married a friend with whom she did not have a romantic relationship. According to unconfirmed reports, he is currently abroad. It is also known that Trepova was detained at one of the pacifist rallies.

The Telegram channels SHOT and Caution News write that Daria could have been recruited by Ukrainian journalist Roman Popkov, a former member of the NBP banned in Russia, and now an ally of radical opposition leader Ilya Ponomarev. Popkov himself denies everything, noting that he has close relatives in Russia.

The explosive, as is known, was in a gilded plaster bust, which the girl handed over to Tatarsky. SHOT writes that the girl brought the bust to St. Petersburg by car a few days ago, suggesting that there is a wiretap inside. According to the publication, Daria told investigators that she was given the task of getting close to Tatarsky in order to recruit him in the future, and then the bust was handed over to her.
