Bonus RPK was seized by the police on drug trafficking charges in March 2015. After paying the property surety, the rapper was released from custody. The prosecution claims that the artist was involved in the sale of marijuana and cocaine, which was confirmed by witnesses. In July 2018, the District Court for Warsaw-Wola sentenced the artist to five and a half years in prison and a fine of about PLN 500,000 – the amount that the rapper earned from selling drugs, according to the court.

When the verdict was passed, there was a discussion on the network about its rightness. The evidence in the case was the testimony of crown witnesses and the lyrics of the artist’s songs. In May 2019, the District Court in Warsaw recognized the judgment as final. The rapper protested on his official Facebook profile, where he emphasized that, apart from the words of witnesses, there was no evidence that could prove his guilt. “I understand, controlled purchase, wiretaps, billings or tangible goods subjected to expertise … But none of these things … As if that wasn’t enough, they took my work as evidence in the case, which is sick at all” the rapper wrote. Bonus RPK has been defended by its loyal fans and colleagues from the hip-hop scene for years. Among them was Sokół and Quebonafide. Special hashtags appeared on the web that express solidarity with the rapper, such as: #uwolnićbonusa or #muremzabonusem. Now his son also took part in the fight for the artist’s freedom.
Dark Zone is a hip-hop collective that includes Bonus RPK. The rapper’s colleagues still cannot accept the sentence that was passed years ago, so they came up with the idea of an aid project. His first release is the single “Uwolnić Bonusa”, in which his older son appeared. A boy who goes by the pseudonym Dobry Dzieciak raps about injustice and the fact that his dad should have come home a long time ago. The artist’s younger son and his partner also appeared in the clip.

Commenters point out that the rapper’s son has talent, and his moving verses have a chance to help Bonus get released early. The rapper is currently in a prison in Warsaw’s Białołęka. According to the verdict, he is to leave the facility in August 2024.
However, it is enough to go beyond the bubble of fans of the Dark Zone, and we will also find critical voices online. Leaving aside the fairness of Bonus’s verdict, it is worth considering whether it is right to involve a child in such a project. Commenters note that parents and guardians should do their best to protect children. Bonus’s son was judged at a very young age, not by his own abilities, but by actions seen through the prism of his father’s problems. Problems that I don’t fully understand yet. The boy was used to promote the piece. Fans argue that Good Kid’s words are sincere and he is happy to express his rebellion and help his father. There is no doubt that any young boy in the place of Bonus’s son would stand up for his dad. However, what we see in the video is not the rebellion of a teenager, but the suffering of a child who misses his father.
