Ukraine terminated the agreement with Russia on the maintenance of strategic missile systems, concluded in September 1993 in Yalta. According to RBC, the corresponding decree was signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“To terminate the Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the procedure for the implementation of warranty and architectural supervision over the operation of strategic missile systems of the Strategic Forces,” the decree says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was instructed to inform the Russian side about the termination of this agreement.
In addition, Kyiv also withdrew from the Agreement on the procedure for pension provision and state insurance of employees of the internal affairs bodies of the CIS countries, concluded on December 24, 1993 in Ashgabat.
According to this document, service in the bodies of the Soviet Union was counted as length of service for employees of the internal bodies of the CIS countries. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry must also notify the other parties to this agreement about Kyiv’s withdrawal from it.
On February 24 last year, Zelensky announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia. According to experts from the Center for Advanced Management Decisions (CPUR), at that time Kyiv and Moscow signed 23 agreements in the post-Soviet period.
