The German Olympic Committee opposed the return of Russians to international tournaments

The National Olympic Committee of Germany (DOSB) opposed the return of Russians and Belarusians to international tournaments. The statement is given on the official website of the organization.

At the same time, DOSB stressed that they were not going to boycott the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, even if the teams of Russia and Belarus were admitted to them. “The only victims of such a sports boycott will be athletes who will miss perhaps the only chance to fulfill their Olympic dream,” the organization notes.

On February 18, the European Parliament opposed the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Games. The International Olympic Committee said that the resolution of the European Parliament contradicts the autonomy of sports organizations and the unifying mission of the Olympics.

On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. However, there is no final decision on this issue. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
