Despite the fact that 40 years by today’s standards is still relatively young, you should still take care of your health and stop leaning on products that are harmful to the body. They were listed by coloproctologist Yulia Plotnikova, Doctor Peter reports.

1. Salt. Hypertension, angina pectoris, heart attacks, strokes – this is not a complete list of the consequences that excessive consumption of salty foods leads to. And with age, the risks are higher – so try not to overdo it.

2. Sausages. Excessive consumption of red meat can increase the risk of developing cancer. We are not talking about giving up a good steak, but eating cutlets, dumplings and goulash every day is not worth it. Remember that even more carcinogens can be found in highly processed meat – sausage, sausages, sausages, bacon. Add to this list a variety of smoked meats – they also do not carry any benefit.

3. Alcohol. The older we get, the more often we are haunted by a hangover, and alcohol causes more and more harm to our body. First of all, the liver begins to get tired – and this is fraught with a decrease in its activity. In addition, alcohol is responsible for the risks of developing type 2 diabetes, as it negatively affects pancreatic cells.

4. Soda. Carbonated drinks do not have a very favorable effect on the digestive tract. It happens that gastric contents can get into the lower parts of the esophagus – and then you will be tormented by heartburn and cough. In the worst case, it will reach gastric metaplasia – and this is already a precancerous condition.

5. Pepper and hot spices. With age, spicier lovers should settle down. The fact is that pepper contains the substance capsaicin, which is quite dangerous for the digestive tract if there are problems with it. For example, it can provoke an exacerbation of hemorrhoidal disease.

6. Milk. Some people have reduced levels of enzymes that break down milk proteins – in such cases, doctors talk about lactase deficiency. Even if you could easily drink a few glasses of milk in your youth, as you age, the digestibility of this type of protein may fall. Bloating, diarrhea – perhaps this can be avoided if you replace milk with kefir, fermented baked milk and cheeses.

7. Oily fish and meat. After 40 years, you should not get carried away with dishes from mackerel, ivasi, whitefish, saury, herring, halibut and omul. From meat, fatty pork and lamb should be avoided. The fact is that such food requires the body to turn on the active mode of bile production and bile secretion.
