I agree that you have to stop in order to move forward. Stop improvising and acting without strategy and planning. In a world that lives in instability, it is very difficult to achieve goals without being clear about what we want and the path we should take.
We must stop looking at facts through the lens of the past, linked to old mentalities or ideological conceptions such as, for example, left and right. The world has changed and continues to change too much and so fast that not doing so is acting for a world that no longer exists. It is unlikely to produce a major transformation based on the same paradigms.
You have to stop deciding without understanding the facts, whether to be clear about what customers, consumers or citizens really want and value, without getting the data that brings us closer to the truth. Otherwise reality will cruelly impose itself. They will stop selling, pleasing customers or winning voters’ preferences. There is no possibility of making effective decisions based on invalid assumptions.
You need to stop complaining, blaming circumstances, luck for the results of your life and company. We need to stop seeing politicians or politics as a panacea or magic wand for success. You have very little luck in life without vision, focus and consistent work on the only thing we have responsibility and control over: ourselves.
No one thrives in a stable world, because it doesn’t exist! Its nature is and will be constant change.
We must stop making enemies out of those who think differently, adversaries out of those who express a different opinion, see life as a zero-sum game. We seek within a framework of mutual respect, consensus, intersection or balance. It is almost impossible to move forward if you are only fighting or arguing negatively.
We must stop looking at inequality and poverty as the exclusive problem of the Government, not considering that there are always options to contribute from what is being done. It is very difficult to progress in a society with serious social problems, and even worse to solve them without the involvement of everyone.
You need to stop sending rumours, negative news, sharing posts without knowing if the information is true or false, just wanting to be “more informed” or the one who “knows the most”. It is very difficult to make quality decisions in the general climate of chaos, alarmism and fear.
You have to stop disappointment in the face of adversity. Those who go beyond, business people and entrepreneurs, exporters, students and leaders, build, propose, do and create in any circumstances. No one thrives in a stable world, because it doesn’t exist! Its nature is and will be constant change.
Much needs to be stopped and many Ecuadorians must stop, but not to stop producing, working, let alone creating wealth, as some wrongly suggest. No society has progressed at a time of strikes, destruction of property or restrictions on the freedom of those who want to work. Perhaps what we have to stop at are these collective habits, these daily actions that do not allow us to progress in the long term. (OR)
