After the death of his wife, the actor practically stopped acting in films, only occasionally playing in private performances with friends. He moonlighted as an animator during the New Year holidays, was engaged in the sale of children’s toys and stationery. But in recent years, health problems no longer allowed to do this.
According to his daughter, Akimov became depressed and tried to numb the pain with alcohol. Relatives tried to help him cope with this condition, he was supposed to undergo rehabilitation in the near future, but his health did not allow it.
Vladimir Akimov did not live a month before his 60th birthday. Only seven people attended his funeral.
