When are Easter holidays? The date is movable. Which determines?

The faithful have been preparing for Easter since February 22, i.e. . It is the day that begins the 40-day Lent that lasts until Maundy Thursday. This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 9, and Boxing Day (Easter Monday) on Monday, April 10.

The movable date is associated with the spring phases of the moon, but the movability of the Jewish Passover festival is also of great importance – according to the apostles Mark, Luke and Matthew, the crucifixion of Jesus took place only a day after this holiday, which falls on the last day before the full moon. Saint John was of a different opinion, claiming that Jesus was crucified on the very day of Passover. For this reason, the Council of Nicaea in 325 established that Easter should always take place on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.

Although children often associate colorful Easter eggs and family meetings, it is one of the most important holidays in the life of every Catholic. They were established to commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and serve to reflect on his Passion, and then to celebrate the Resurrection.

Easter 2023 – days off. What breaks can employees and students count on?

Pursuant to the provisions of the Act on public holidays, both Easter and Easter Monday are non-working days.

Every year many people wonder if Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are public holidays. Turns out not – these days are working days. The situation is different in the case of students. They will have a break from school from April 6 (Maundy Thursday) to April 11 (Tuesday).
