Toxicologist Mikhail Kutushov told what would happen if you eat green mold.

We add that food mold is a microscopic filamentous fungus that lives on any animal and plant products. It reproduces by means of spores, which are carried by air, water and insects.

So, the expert writes in his blog, if a person has good immunity, then when it enters the body, the fungus is digested by gastric juice and excreted from the body. However, if the immune system is weakened by illness or general exhaustion, then mold spores enter the bloodstream and can cause serious diseases, in particular, bronchial asthma, cirrhosis of the liver, malignant and benign neoplasms.

If the bread is stored incorrectly or for a long time, mold of different colors may appear on its surface: green, blue-green, black.

“The most poisonous are yellow mold and black rot,” Kutushov pointed out. – Yellow mold produces a strong mycotoxin, also called aflatoxin. Meeting it with the human body is undesirable and extremely dangerous – it causes severe lung damage and can even lead to death.

Even if there are no traces of mold on the bread, but you smell mustiness, rancidity, it means that the bread has already begun to mold.

The most dangerous are moldy peanut butter and the nuts themselves. It is also extremely dangerous to eat spoiled canned food, it threatens with botulism. Moldy meat products are also considered very dangerous.

By the way, there is food mold, for example, on cheeses, but this is different. This mold is grown in a special way on purpose.
