Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a briefing with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, said that he had not yet seen a Chinese peace plan, but he would welcome a meeting between Ukraine and China. It is reported by Reuters.
“We would like to meet with China,” he said.
Zelenskiy said he had only heard “general things” about China’s proposals through Ukrainian diplomats, but that Beijing is considering mediating peace is reassuring. The Ukrainian leader is convinced that the more countries think about how to end the military conflict in Ukraine with a just peace, the sooner this will happen.
Earlier, we recall, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that by the end of February, Beijing would present a plan for a political settlement of the conflict over Ukraine. Wang Yi stressed that China is “on the side of peace and dialogue” in the Ukrainian issue.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, for his part, said that Wang Yi shared with him some of the main provisions of Beijing’s proposals during a meeting in New York. However, Kuleba stressed, Ukraine cannot draw conclusions about the plan without seeing the document, and will carefully study it when it receives it.
