PSG fans are banned from traveling to Marseille for the derby against Olympique

The fans of Paris Saint Germain were banned from traveling to Marseille to support their team in Sunday’s derby against Olympique, according to a French Interior Ministry decree published on Thursday.

On February 8, PSG fans had already been deprived of going to the city for the game of the round of 16 of the French Cup, which ended with a 2-1 victory for Olympique.

This new Sunday classic is a direct confrontation in the fight for the title of the French Championship, as PSG is the leader with five points of advantage over Olympique, second in the table.

Alleging the “rivalry” between the fans of the two clubs, which “has in the past and recurrently caused serious public order problems”, the police had enacted in early February a ban on Parisian fans from “going to the VĂ©lodrome stadium and circulating or stay” in its surroundings for the games on February 8th and 26th.

The ministerial order published this Thursday completes these provisions prohibiting “on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from midnight and for 24 hours, individual or collective travel by any means” of any PSG supporter.
