The Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced biology teacher Viktor Lastochkin to 17 and a half years in prison for indecent acts against students. It is reported by TASS.
“The court imposed a punishment under paragraph “b” part 4 of Art. 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (4 episodes, “Violent actions”) in the form of imprisonment for a period of 17.5 years in a strict regime colony with deprivation of the right to engage in activities in the field of education, leisure, recreation, related to the participation of minors, for a period of 17 years” , — stated in the message of the joint press service of the courts of the city.
The process took place behind closed doors. Lastochkin pleaded not guilty.
Lastochkin was arrested in December last year. Employees of the criminal investigation department found that the man committed indecent acts against two 13-year-old boys. The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg confirmed this information, and the teacher was charged.
Investigators also noted that they were checking information about the man’s similar crimes in the past. The fact that he was prosecuted under article 135 (“Indecent acts”) in 2008 and received a suspended sentence of two years in prison was reported by the city media.
The accused teacher got a job in the last job in 2018, having provided the school management with the original certificate from the police about the absence of a criminal record.
