Ecuador is getting ready to live its second holiday so far this year, this time it will be the one concerning carnival. This is a celebration that several countries around the world take part in and the country is no exception.
Several cities in the Sierra have prepared themselves with troupes and parties to commemorate this date. It marks the prelude to Lent, a time of reflection on the Catholic religion and which will begin with Ash Wednesday.

The Ecuadorian government established the holidays that will be celebrated until 2025. This year, carnival will be on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February, this will be added to the weekend corresponding to Saturday 18 and Sunday 19.
This holiday is not recoverable, so workers will be able to enjoy it without extending their hours, as when the holiday was granted on February 6 after the elections one day before.
