This Sunday the scrutiny culminated in the province of Loja with the processing and validation of 100% of the records corresponding to the sectional dignities, the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control and the referendum.
Sandra Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Electoral Board of Loja, pointed out that what the law indicates was complied with and, above all, the will of the citizenry was respected.
In this province, 25 claims were filed about alleged irregularities, but all were cleared.
An additional fact is that, of the 16 mayors’ offices in this province, half of them were obtained by provincial or cantonal movements, and in some cases associated with traditional political parties.
The mayors of Chaguarpamba and Espíndola were resolved by few votes. In the first, the difference between the winner, Víctor Largo, and Nayo Balcazar was 46 votes; while in the second only 15 votes separated Álvaro García over Bolívar Jimbo.
