The DPRK has unveiled the design of new postage stamps depicting the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, known as Chu E. This is reported by Interfax with reference to the South Korean agency Yonhap.

Postage stamps, the designs of which are posted on the website of the North Korean Postal Corporation, depict Kim Jong-un and his daughter, who were present at the test launch of the Hwaseong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile last November.

According to the website, the stamps will be released on Friday.

It is noted that this is the first time that North Korea has issued postage stamps with the image of a child of Kim Jong-un.

The North Korean leader’s daughter, believed to be around 10 years old, attended a military parade last week to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army. This gave rise to rumors that she could be trained as the successor to Kim Jong-un.

Yonhap points out that the DPRK state-run media have recently started referring to her as Kim Jong-un’s “respected” daughter instead of “beloved” or “most beloved.” It is assumed that this may indicate an increase in her status.

Meanwhile, experts say it is too early to judge whether she could be Kim Jong-un’s successor. But, in their view, Pyongyang appears to be demonstrating its legitimacy as a descendant of the “Baektu-san bloodline” of the Kim dynasty.
