The Amur tiger attacked hunters in a winter hut near the village of Arsenyevo in the Khabarovsk Territory, the predator was eliminated. According to TASS, this was reported in the administration of the Nanai district, on the territory of which the incident occurred.

“The tiger broke the window in the winter hut and got inside. There were two hunters, the tiger attacked one of them, wounding him. The tiger was shot,” the administration said.

The injured hunter received lacerations and lost a lot of blood. The incident was reported to the rescue services, a helicopter with doctors was sent for the victim, but due to weather conditions, he could not land on the territory of the village of Arsenyevo – from there they planned to evacuate the hunter to Khabarovsk. He was taken to the Troitsk central regional hospital.

As journalists were told in the Ministry of Health of the Khabarovsk Territory, the victim, 19 years old, was evacuated the day before from the Anyuisky reserve. “Now he is in the intensive care unit of the Troitsk Central District Hospital, his condition is serious and stable. After the attack of the beast, he spent two days in the taiga and lost a lot of blood,” the press service of the ministry said.

Today he will be taken to the Sergeev Regional Clinical Hospital in Khabarovsk.

Recently, tigers have begun to often enter the territory of the settlements of the region in search of easily accessible food, and attack dogs. This is due to the reduction of the predator’s natural food supply. The number of wild boars in the region has decreased due to logging of oak plantations and African swine fever.

Rosprirodnadzor approved the capture of six tigers in five districts, including Nanai. In the future, predators will be released into the wild away from settlements or placed in a rehabilitation center.
