It seems that it was yesterday when the Official Contest of Carnival Groups (COAC) started in the Great Falla Theater of Cádiz, with that long but more than interesting preliminary phase with about 130 carnival groups. As the days have progressed, some of these chirigotas, comparsas, choirs and quartets have been falling along the way, until the semifinal phase, which has reached slightly less than thirty groups.
And how are they going? You never know. The scores obtained by each of the groups in the different phases of the COAC they are secret and are not known until the contest ends or, failing that, until they are disqualified (the points of the groups that do not pass the phase are known). However, the regional and local media have their own juries that, with more or less success, serve as thermometer to see where the Cadiz Carnival moves.
