From June, the airline Avianca will open the direct route Quito – New York, United States.

The promotional rate will be $338 including taxes and it is already activated for sale.

María Beatriz González, commercial manager of that airline, said that as part of their commercial strategy, they seek non-stop point-to-point routes and within their business model, personalize the trip.

Avianca from Guayaquil and Quito has 12 direct international frequencies and 5 domestic ones.

These are the new air routes that will open in Ecuador this semester

There will be 5 weekly frequencies that will take off at 5:00 p.m. from the Quito air terminal to the John F. Kennedy airport, and from the month of September there will be an additional frequency. In total there will be more than 7,000 monthly seats.

In a press conference it was also announced that from Guayaquil and Quito, in March they will go to Medellín, in Colombia, and from that month, from the Main Port to Cartagena.

Ramón Miró, president of the Quiport Corporation, which manages the Quito airport, and who participated in the event, mentioned that New York is one of the favorite destinations for Ecuadorians and will strengthen receptive tourism and bring the country closer to Ecuadorians who live there. He added that it is the first route of an airline to that destination directly that Tame used to do, a company that no longer operates.

In December 2021, Avianca opened the route to New York from Guayaquil and according to its spokespersons it has transported more than 70,000 passengers.

Traveler occupancy is over 90%. In June, there will be a change of aircraft to go from 120 passengers to 180 passengers.

Niels Olsen, Minister of Tourism, indicated that one of the main priorities was to sign open skies agreements with several countries, including the United States, as well as eliminate 5% of ISD for airlines.
