A sit-in to demand the “cessation of repression in Peru” will be held at 4:00 p.m. this MondayFebruary 13, in Plaza San Francisco (Plaza Rocafuerte), located on Avenida 9 de Octubre and Pedro Carbo, in downtown Guayaquil.

This event will last until 6:00 p.m. and is organized by the Peace and Hope Foundation and the Standing Committee for the Defense of Human Rights“Faced with the serious political crisis suffered by the brotherly people of the neighboring country, since December 7, 2022after the failed coup attempt and subsequent arrest of then President Pedro Castillo.
The organizers indicate that more than two months have elapsed and throughout Peru the mobilizations and protest actions are multiplying, demanding respect for democracy, with the advancement of general elections, as the main demandalong with the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.
In a bulletin it was indicated that the activity includes “the reading of a manifesto for the cessation of repression in the neighboring country, to collect signatures from attendees and representatives of social organizations.”
The document is expected to be delivered on February 14 to the representative of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry and the Peruvian Consulate in Guayaquil. (YO)
