They present a request for impeachment against four CNE advisers

At least 40 signatures of the Democratic Left and the Pachakutik movement support the request for interpellation

On November 11, the Imbabura legislator for the Pachakutik movement, Mario Ruiz Jácome, formalized a request for impeachment against four councilors and a former councilor of the National Electoral Council (CNE), for alleged non-compliance with functions.

The accusation, according to Ruiz, focuses on the fact that the CNE did not allow the inconsistencies presented in the 39,000 polls to be verified in the general elections of February 2021.

He stated that article 148 of the Democracy Code determines that when there is a claim from any candidate, the CNE has the obligation to exhaust all possible means to verify that there are no inconsistencies, and that did not happen in the last electoral process.

To avoid suspicions of fraud, added the proponent, the only means that existed was the opening of the polls. Ruiz said that all of Ecuador was left with the doubt of whether the presidential candidate, Yaku Pérez, was subjected to electoral fraud.

The impeachment request has 40 supporting signatures and comes from the Pachakutik and the Democratic Left blocs.

The impeachment is presented against the councilors Diana Atamaint, José Cabrera, Esthela Acero, Enrique Pita and the former councilor Luis Verdesoto. (I)
