Richard Vaca, commander of zone 5, indicated that Ramiro Yanangómez Riera was traveling in his father’s truck with the intention of reaching his work in the courtyards of the Babahoyo Judicial Police.

While driving through the Quevedo exit towards the rural parish of San Carlos, he was approached by five men who were also traveling in a van.

The subjects fired four times at Yanangómez, who, wounded, managed to get out of the vehicle and get under it to cover himself with the tires and from there respond to the attack by the antisocials. They managed to escape while the police sergeant agonized to death.

The Government indicates that evidence was collected to clarify the relationship with the alleged crime of procedural fraud in the case of Júnior Roldán, leader of Los Choneros
