Woman was struck by a vehicle in Esmeraldas and died

A woman, approximately 40 years old, died in a traffic accident that occurred on Eloy Alfaro avenue and San José Obrero street, in the city of Esmeraldas. The incident occurred after 6:00 p.m. on Monday the 30th.

The woman’s body was left on the public road and exposed fractures were observed in the left arm and leg and on blood spots.

According to witnesses, a taxi type vehicle would be responsible for the accident.

Minutes after the incident, Esvial EP agents confirmed the retention of the vehicle in the streets of 6 de Diciembre and Salinas, in the center of the capital of Esmeralda.

Daniel Velasco, a transit agent, said that they received the emergency call from ECU911 and together with the rescuers from the Fire Department they arrived at the site of the accident, where they verified that the woman had no vital signs.

Through social networks, details of the characteristics of the deceased woman were given, who was wearing a red T-shirt, lead-colored tarpaulins and a white cap with the logo of a banking agency.

A catechist from the San José Obrero church, near where the road accident occurred, said she knew the victim and that he suffered from some type of mobility disability.

A Forensic Medicine vehicle removed the body, while uniformed police tactical units arrived at the site to verify whether the death occurred due to a traffic accident.

Two injured in accident

Two young people were affected while riding a motorcycle on the Mancha de Caña-El Libertador neighborhood road, in Quinindé, center of the Esmeraldas province, on the night of Sunday the 29th.

The mishap occurred at the moment that the motorists avoided two people who were walking on this road. The wounded were helped by friends and were taken to the Alberto Buffoni de Quinindé hospital.

One of the injured, 17 years old, suffered major health problems, it was reported. (YO)
