The champion of the PyeongChang Olympics in the team figure skating tournament, Canadian Megan Duhamel called on “more countries and federations” to discuss the boycott of the 2024 Games in Paris if Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed.
On her social media page, Duhamel published a post with a letter to members of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine, which announced plans to consider the option of boycotting the Games on February 3. She also added that she believes “more countries and sports federations should follow suit.”
In the comments to the post, the athlete noted that if the special operation in Ukraine is not a reason for suspension, then “the systemic doping program, of course, is.”
Recall, on January 25, the IOC allowed the return of Russians and Belarusians to international competitions, who did not actively support the special operation in Ukraine and did not violate the anti-doping code. The IOC also supported the proposal to allow athletes of the two countries to participate in tournaments in Asia.
