Police seized 28 marijuana plants in northern Quito

With more than a meter of height, the marijuana plants were buried on buckets with earth. This is how members of the Police and agents of the Prosecutor’s Office found the 28 plants in an address located in San Antonio Alto, in the north of Quito.

The total weight given by the plants was 8,964 grams, this meant 17,928 doses of drugs that were seized before it was marketed.

This property, according to the Police, was occupied by a criminal structure that was dedicated to the cultivation and commercialization of marijuana.

One by one the plants were taken out of the buckets, the soil from their roots was cleaned and they were transferred to the laboratories, where the experts confirmed the species of plant subject to control.

In one week, from January 16 to 22, 2023, the Zone 9 Anti-Drug Investigation Headquarters (DMQ) reported that 17 operations were carried out in different sectors of the capital. Among them are Colinas del Norte, Iñaquito, the airport, San Antonio Alto, Tumbaco, the historic center, Itchimbía, Cotocollao, Las Cuadras, the University, Panecillo and postal agencies.

Eighteen people were apprehended, of which four already have records for the same crime.

Almost a ton of drugs were seized in a container with tuna going to the United Kingdom

In these operations they managed to remove 2,261 grams of cocaine and 9,410 grams of marijuana from the market. This gives a total of 11,671 grams, equivalent to 41,438 doses that have been seized.

According to the Police, this amount of drugs withheld would have a value of $32,028. In addition, among the evidence they have are 10 cell phones, $112.50 in cash, and a vehicle that was used to transport and sell drugs. (YO)
