Universities define the 2023 admission calendar and make a proposal to the Senescyt for admission

Once the first phase for access to higher education 2023 with the national registry for those interested in going to public universities and polytechnic schools has concluded, the admission stage begins.

Starting this year, higher education institutions must apply their own admission mechanisms, after the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Senescyt) transferred that mechanism.

After the national registration will come the phase in the universities that includes registration, evaluation, application and allocation of quotas developed by each institution and finally the acceptance of the quota.

One of the particularities is that in this 2023 process, high school graduates will be able to apply for various career options, as well as several universities, given that in the last process that the Government managed there was the possibility of applying for three career options in order of priority.

Arturo Rojas, president of the Assembly of the Ecuadorian Higher Education System, mentioned that each university has the responsibility of defining student income and sees it as an alternative so that high school graduates can participate directly.

He pointed out that there have been conversations with the Senescyt to see the possibility of approving the note because the tests and contents are not the same.

As an example, he explained that if a person applies to two universities, they should take a test at one and another at the other.

“Those people who do not reach a place in a university can capture another place, in another university, through an agreement that we have to carry out,” he said as an option.

It would be applied depending on the free places and that the bachelor can be admitted to another university.

Meanwhile, the universities are defining their calendar.

Washington Fierro, director of academic management at the University of Bolívar, explained that those universities that require accompaniment must submit an application to the Senescyt.

While those who will do it on their own assume all the administrative, academic, evaluation, and allocation of quota steps.
