From January 1 to 15 of this year, the Municipality of Quito collected $33.6 million for property tax payments. However, the previous year during the same period the payment of $35.1 million was recorded. This means that there has been a 4.39% lower property payment income.
Henry Reyes, metropolitan director of Citizen Services of Quito, pointed out that the slight decrease may be due to the fact that the appraisal of properties in general has suffered a devaluation due to obsolescence.
During each biennium, the value of the tax cannot increase, unless adaptations or increases are made in the constructions.
The official pointed out that a total of $2 million less in the tax collection has been issued compared to the previous year.
Of what was collected in the first 15 days of January, $29.8 million correspond to the collection of the current year; $2.3 million are part of the collection of the previous ones, and $1.3 million canceled by collection of the current and previous years together.
These figures go against the surplus registered in 2022, over previous years.
Payment options
Citizens will be able to make the property payment in banks, cooperatives, mutuals and payment auxiliaries, with which they have more than 2,000 windows. They can also do so through electronic banking, from each institution.
Another option is through direct payment to the Municipality, by entering the website, here you can cancel with a credit or debit card.

For this 2023, a new mode of cancellation of property obligations was implemented, through links payment. Henry Reyes added that to obtain property information it is not necessary for users to go to the service balconies either, they can do so by telephone, through the number 101 or 1800 510 510. And he stressed that in the Municipal agencies it is not carried out collection.

The discounts will be maintained from January to June, the discount percentage will gradually decrease every fortnight. This means that from January 1 to 15, users had a 10% discount.
From January 16 to 31, the discount will be 9%, and so on.
