Police cadet Joselyn S., who is the only one arrested in the case of Maria Belen Bernalhe could be about to regain his freedom.
The possibility would be in a hearing that has been requested by the same Prosecutor’s Office to review the revocation of precautionary measures that were arranged for the cadet.
She was associated with German Caceres, suspect in Bernal’s death. Cáceres was an instructor at the Police School, where Bernal arrived on September 11. Days later, she was found dead in the Casitagua hill.
Cadet Joselyn S., who is detained for the Bernal case, could be released
The State Attorney General’s Office announced that it has ex officio requested the specialized judge for Violence against Women to set a day and time for a hearing to revoke precautionary measures.
Joan Paul Egred, the cadet’s lawyer, indicated that there will be a hearing to hear the request to rescind the prison on the cadet.
This Thursday, Elizabeth Otavalo’s lawyer, Galo Quiñónez, recounted in Guayaquil that the last week of December the expert review of the cell phones of Joselyn S., Germán Cáceres and María Belén Bernal was given.
Mother of María Belén Bernal arrived at La Roca prison and waits for Germán Cáceres to confess if he had help from his colleagues or superiors
The jurist indicated that nothing related to the crime has been found on the cadet’s cell phone and presumes that for this reason the measures will be changed.
He also said that there was nothing on Cáceres’ cell phone, that he had deleted everything and that they did find interesting information on Bernal’s cell phone, but he did not want to say what.
Cáceres, who was on the run and was captured on December 30 in Colombia, expanded his version on Thursday in La Roca prison.
On Sunday, January 15, the tax investigation in this case closes and the Prosecutor’s Office must present the evidence collected. (YO)
