The Czech authorities are completing the creation of the so-called internal sanctions list, which includes Russian entrepreneurs who can pose a threat to the security of the republic. This is reported by Česká televize with reference to the head of the Czech Interior Ministry Vita Rakusan.
According to the source, the attention of the Czech authorities was attracted, in particular, by Sergei Mayzus, a billionaire originally from the Kaliningrad region. A few years ago he settled in the Czech Republic. Mayzus has previously stated that he has traded foreign currencies online in the past. He currently owns three castles in the Czech Republic.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic emphasized that those Russians who live in the Czech Republic and “have done something” for it may also be included in the list.
Earlier it was reported that the financial and analytical department of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic began checking the assets of an unnamed deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, who fell under EU sanctions, as well as the wife of another Russian deputy, whose name was also not disclosed.
During the audit, the assets of several individuals and legal entities included in the EU sanctions list will be audited. The department clarifies that we are talking about hundreds of millions of crowns.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
