Do you want to enter the Polytechnic? This is the admission process carried out by Espol, in which it offers more than 2,000 places for leveling

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Espol) runs from Tuesday, January 10, a schedule of entrance exams for high school graduates and future high school graduates who aspire to complete their undergraduate degree at the institution of higher education. The tests will be given until this Friday the 13th.

Carmen Vaca, Director of Admissions and Dean of Degrees, explained that there are 2,800 places offered for leveling, that is, the previous accompaniment course that students must take before entering the university.

‘We are confident that you will achieve it’: almost 4,000 applicants seek to become polytechnics

Vaca clarified that, however, there are students who still have a quota assigned from previous processes, so they can make use of it in the 2023-2024 academic period.

For the exams that are taken from January 10, almost 4,000 applicants are registered. Each one must take two tests: aptitude and knowledge.

What is the admission process implemented by Espol?

In accordance with the provisions of the Admissions Regulations issued by the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Senescyt), there are several stages:

  1. The process begins with the registration both in the National Single Registry of Senescyt and in the Espol registration platform (https://academico.admision.espol.edu.ec), for which the corresponding form is filled out.
  2. At the end of the registration in the Espol computer platform, the applicant receives a proof of registration and from the platform the information to take the leveling entrance exam is communicated via email.
  3. The exam takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Aptitudes and knowledge are evaluated in subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Science for Art and Physics. The results are scanned and then contrasted with a system in which the answer sheet is posted.
  4. The score obtained, together with the socioeconomic index and other information provided by Senescyt, such as the high school academic record, allow Espol to carry out the process of assigning places to leveling following the norms established in the Admissions Regulations.
  5. Students apply for a career on the Espol platform, where they can view whether or not they have obtained a place at this institution.
  6. After six working days the results are published online. Students will have two days to make the challenge (if applicable). Once all the stages are completed, the student receives, according to the result, a short monitoring process (leveling) that would start in February or a longer one that is scheduled for May.
  7. Once the place is assigned, Espol, like all HEIs in the country, will send the information to Senescyt so that applicants can accept the place on said platform, thus completing the process.

When would this new academic period begin?

Espol plans to start its classes in May 2023. (YO)
