Quito woke up with heavy rain and fog

The early morning of this Monday, January 9, Quito received heavy rain that continued until approximately 08:00. The precipitation of water was constant, and the citizens took the respective measures for the cold weather with which this week began.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) issued a document warning of the increase in rainfall during these days. According to the entity, this climatic phenomenon will continue until January 13.

The temperature will drop more than normal in the mornings, especially between January 8 and 11, 2023, the document says. This applies to the northern and central provinces of the Inter-Andean zone, that is, in the provinces of Carchi, Imbabura, Pichincha and Cotopaxi.

Inamhi forecasts heavy rains and storms with gusty winds in several provinces for the next few days

Vehicles were moving slowly and traffic increased due to the wet road. Despite this, the ECU911 Integrated Security Service reported that no emergency calls were made due to the rains.

In the province of Pichincha, it is expected that there will be a very high level of rainfall in the northwest; for the center of the province there is a high level alert; and in the south of Pichincha, medium level.

Car competition in Cuenca was suspended after accidents and weather conditions

The Inamhi recommended that citizens take the respective measures to face the drop in temperature and the intense rainfall that is expected. Also, clean the ducts that allow the path of water to the sewers. (YO)
