Fines will be more expensive in 2023: Indecopi recommends paying outstanding amounts before the ITU increase

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), through Supreme Decree No. 309-2022-EF, raised the value of the tax unit (UIT) to S/4,950. This amount was S/4,600 during 2022, so the recent increase of S/350 is the highest since 1994. The change in the ITU value has consequences on fines, tributes, accounting obligationstaxpayer registry, among others.

Given this, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) remarked that since January 1, 2023, the fines imposed will increase, since they are governed by the ITU value. “A fine amounting to a UIT will be paid with S/4,600 until this year, but if it is not done, from January 1 the debt is updated to S/4,950; that is, it increases by S/350″, explained the institution.

Where to pay Indecopi fines?

Indecopi fines can be paid at different financial entities:

  • BCP: agencies and virtual media (option “service payment”)
  • BBVA: agencies and virtual media (option “service payment”)
  • National bank: Agencies (transaction code 3711 and assigned CUM) and pagalo.pe.

How much will workers pay in taxes with the UIT increase?

The ITU highest value It also has tax implications. Jorge Carrillo Acosta, a professor at the Pacífico Business School, indicates that the payroll workers they will pay less income tax on their salaries, “so they will have more money in their pockets.”
