Montenegro has updated the seasonal visa-free regime for the period from April 1 to October 31, 2022. According to ATOR, instead of the already familiar 90 days for Russians, it has been reduced to 30 days.
It is noted that the country’s authorities update the rules for foreign tourists every year. Under the terms of the agreement between the Russian Federation and Montenegro of 2008, Russians from November 1 to May 31 can travel to the country without a visa if the duration of their stay there does not exceed 30 days from the date of entry.
Earlier, for the summer season, from April to October 31, a longer period was set for the Russians – 90 days. Now, nothing is said about such a rule in relation to Russians in 2022 on the portal of the Montenegrin government. To obtain an entry permit for three months, they will have to apply to the country’s embassy.
As previously reported, the Montenegrin government was unable to approve a package of sanctions against Russia due to a conflict during a Cabinet meeting. The Montenegrin authorities promised to join the EU sanctions against Russia on March 1.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including those of a financial and economic nature.
