He only had days to go before he was released from El Rodeo prison, in Portoviejo. Renny Bruno Olmos Morales died from various stab wounds that he received this Monday, after having a dispute with another inmate of pavilion A3 of that penitentiary center.
Olmos was being held in a minimum security prison when he suffered this attack. In the middle of this year, the deceased was arrested in Ibarra, where he was accused of causing damage to property.
But he and two other people arrested for that fact accepted the abbreviated process. In mid-June of this year, he was sentenced to six months in prison.

According to Luis Cano, chief of the Manta Police District, both people were arrested in a house where they also found 80 2.23 caliber cartridges used in rifles.
For this reason, an investigation was initiated for both of them for the alleged crime of illicit trafficking in firearms, chemical, nuclear or biological weapons, typified in article 362 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code. (YO)
