The capital of Ecuador celebrates 488 years of foundation this December 6. In addition, the 200 years of the battle of Pichincha are commemorated. This year, as the date of the foundation is Tuesday, the day off for those who reside in the Ecuadorian capital will be on Monday, December 5, 2022. A mandatory rest day (only in Quito) that joins the weekend.
The Fiestas de Quito have various activities. The Municipality of Quito has developed an agenda that began on November 25 and will end on December 6. This celebration is known for its different and joyful parades in honor of the city.
One of these parades is the twenty-second festival of bands and bastoneras Viva Quito 2022: presentation of peace bands and bastonera groups from educational institutions, in Plaza Belmonte, starting at 10:00.
This is a parade of schools with the standard-bearers, escorts, peace bands and baton dancers from 20 municipal educational institutions in the city of Quito. The journey will be through the streets of the historic center of Quito: concentration in the Plaza 24 de Mayo boulevard and tour of García Moreno, Sucre and Venezuela streets to the Plaza Grande (Chile street).

- Great parade of La Mariscal: parade with peace bands, batoneras, floats and Quito masquerades; from 6:00 p.m. the Amazonas avenue will be traveled, between Colón and Patria. (YO)
