Police officer Álex Francisco Pozo Arellano entered the San Rafael clinic, but despite the efforts of the doctor on duty, he was unable to survive.
Around midnight on November 1, 2021 (23:35), Second Sergeant Edwin Cacuango, of the Pintag Police Circuit, reported that, according to information from residents of the sector, in the Central Park of Pintag, in the valley of Los Chillos, unknown individuals, allegedly attacked police lieutenant Álex Pozo with a knife to steal his cell phone.
Lieutenant Álex Francisco Pozo Arellano, 29, worked in the Continuing Education Department of the Napo National Police. The officer was dressed in civilian clothes, because he was frank, when was stabbed with a knife in the right side of his back.
The familiars they took him to the San Rafael clinic to receive medical attention, but despite the efforts of the doctor on duty, he did not survive.
At 02:00 on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, representatives of the ECU-911 and Dinased arrived at the San Rafael clinic to remove the body of the police officer Álex Francisco Pozo Arellano, who hours before had been wounded with a knife.
According to the visual examination, the victim presented a wound in the right lumbar region, produced by a knife (knife), and a surgical wound sutured in the abdomen. The body was immediately transferred to the Department of Legal Medicine.
Lieutenant Jaime Santiago Pozo Arellano, brother of the deceased officer, told the authorities that at approximately 8:00 p.m., he was with his brother Álex Pozo (deceased) at the bakery he owned, Paquita, in Pintag.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. a cousin of his, Luis Caiza, had arrived in a drunken state. As a precaution, the deceased officer had decided to accompany him to his home, which is a few meters from the bakery. On the way a citizen had approached, alias Cuervo, who in an unsuspecting way and from behind stabbed them and stole their belongings. Jaime Pozo, upon hearing the noise, left the bakery and observed his brother and cousin injured. They were immediately taken with their relatives to the San Rafael clinic. His brother passed away within hours; and his cousin, Luis Caiza, is under observation.
The preventive service of the Pintag Police Circuit managed to arrest citizen Simbaña Herrera David Leonardo, 35, the alleged perpetrator of the homicide (I).
