Heavy rain with an electrical storm surprised Quito this Sunday, July 31

This Sunday morning, the sun was so intense that people sought to hide in the shadows formed by the trees and buildings of Quito. The citizens went out for a walk or carried out pending activities with hats and umbrellas, although they did not imagine that hours later the weather would change completely.

After 3:00 p.m., the sky suddenly clouded over and heavy rain began. Minutes later, an electrical storm ended the silence of the desolate tracks.

One after another lightning bolts lit up the sky, and small streams took shape between the sidewalks and sewers of the capital.

In the rural parishes of the valley of Tumbaco and Los Chillos there was also heavy rain accompanied by thunder.

The Integrated Security Service ECU911 reported that there was an accumulation of water in the northern sector of the city, in the parishes of Calderón and Pomasqui.

As a result of the collapse of sewers, the streets of the sector were flooded. In social networks, users also reported that traffic was trapped on the North Pan-American Highway as it could not pass through the height of the water. (YO)
