Greece's ruling New Democracy party maintained its poll lead over Alexis Tsipras's ELAS party as opposition support dropped, according to a new survey.
The survey, conducted by polling agency Interview for the news website Politic, put New Democracy at 26.5 percent. Support for ELAS fell from 15.8 percent in July to 14.5 percent.
New Democracy is Greece's governing center-right party, while ELAS is led by former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
PASOK remained in third place with 10 percent of voter support, followed by Greek Solution with 9 percent and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with 6.1 percent. The Elpida party, led by Maria Karystianou, suffered a polling slump, dropping to 3.6 percent from 5.3 percent the previous month.
Voice of Reason recorded 3.1 percent, while Course of Freedom stood at 2.9 percent and MeRA25 reached 2.8 percent, putting both parties on the edge of parliament entry. SYRIZA registered a slight recovery, rising from 1 percent last month to 2 percent.
The proportion of undecided voters rose to 10.6 percent from 9 percent in July. Those choosing another party increased to 6 percent from 5 percent, bringing the total share of voters not directed to any party to 16.6 percent.
Leadership Trust Ratings
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis retained the highest level of trust among political leaders to govern Greece, securing 29.3 percent. The option of "none" came second with 19.2 percent.
Alexis Tsipras followed in third place with 13.4 percent, ahead of Greek Solution leader Kyriakos Velopoulos on 11.4 percent and PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis on 8.5 percent.
Elections Demand
The poll also recorded a narrow majority in favor of holding immediate parliamentary elections, with 51 percent of respondents preferring elections now compared to 46 percent who favored completing the government's full term. Three percent expressed no opinion.
Citizens also showed a clear preference for forming a government without an extended voting process. Sixty percent of respondents said they want a government formed from the first election round, compared to 32 percent who preferred needing a second ballot.
