Colombian-American journalist Mónica Mendoza will present her debut book, titled 'The Art of Not Dying of Grief', in Santo Domingo on Friday, September 4.

The session serves as Mendoza's first formal event in the Dominican Republic for the book ahead of its global release by publisher HarperCollins Español on September 8. Tickets for the Santo Domingo event are available through the ticketing website www.tuboleta.com.do.

Workshop Focus and Personal Experience

Mendoza will outline the central ideas of her book during the workshop, sharing practical tools designed to help individuals navigate emotional and professional losses as well as major life transitions. The discussion will emphasize resilience and personal reconstruction.

The book draws directly from Mendoza's own experiences with grief, including the death of her parents, the loss of two partners, and the challenge of relocating to Madrid at the age of 50.

She presents an approach to grief that aims to move beyond emotional pain, framing loss as an opportunity to rebuild purpose and begin again. The book is also tied to Café y Duelo, a platform Mendoza established to foster open discussions about grief and emotional health within the Hispanic community.

International Tour and Background

Mendoza brings more than two decades of experience in media and audiovisual production. In addition to her work as a journalist and documentary filmmaker, she is an end-of-life doula, podcaster, creator of Mija Talks, and founder of Café y Duelo.

The Santo Domingo workshop forms part of an international promotional tour for 'The Art of Not Dying of Grief'. Following her appearance in the Dominican Republic, Mendoza will host events in Miami in September and Madrid in October.

Her international schedule will continue at the Miami Book Fair in November, before concluding on December 6 with an appearance at the Guadalajara International Book Fair in Mexico.
