Michael Smith Tuñoque Pizarro, a technician and videographer for the musical group Son del Duke, has been reported to police for physically assaulting his former partner in the city of Chiclayo in northern Peru.
The victim, identified as Alondra, was working as a motorcycle taxi driver when the attack occurred in Dorada park. Mototaxis, three-wheeled motorized vehicles, are a common mode of public transport across Peruvian cities like Chiclayo, the capital of the Lambayeque region.
Speaking in an interview with Peruvian television news program ATV Noticias, Alondra said her former partner intercepted her vehicle, struck her in the face with a closed fist, knocked her to the ground, and demanded her keys, causing multiple contusions across her body.
Alondra managed to defend herself using a stone, while two passengers and nearby residents rushed to assist her. The bystanders who intervened were also physically assaulted by the suspect, who then took the motorcycle taxi she depended on as her work tool.
Security camera footage and restraining order
The entire attack was recorded on local security cameras in the area. The incident occurred despite the fact that a court had already granted Alondra protective measures and issued a formal restraining order against Tuñoque Pizarro.
Alondra stated that the attack was not the first time he had targeted her, noting she had previously filed legal complaints against him for physical and psychological abuse. She added that the accused also refuses to pay child support for their two-year-old daughter.
Following the assault, Alondra contacted Alex Duque, a representative for the Son del Duke orchestra, and provided video recordings to the group's attorney. However, she reported receiving no response from the organization.
Ministry of Women support and legal demands
The victim is receiving support from Peru's Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the cabinet-level government department tasked with protecting victims of domestic violence, as she proceeds with legal action.
Alondra has demanded immediate intervention from authorities to guarantee her physical safety and enforce the legal rights of her minor daughter.
