Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso Damon celebrated their daughter Gia's 18th birthday with a family trip to Disneyland.

The 55-year-old Oscar winner brought his wife and their daughters, including Alexia, 27, Isabella, 20, and Stella, 15, to the California theme park.

The family wore matching custom Disney-themed T-shirts reading "Birthday Crew", while Gia wore a special top featuring Minnie Mouse ears that read "Birthday Girl".

Wearing baseball caps and sunglasses, the group viewed the new Halloween Time decorations on the park's Main Street, U.S.A.

Grueling shoot for 'The Odyssey'
The trip served as a break for Damon following a month-long global press tour to promote the Christopher Nolan epic "The Odyssey".

The actor told People magazine at the film's July 7 premiere that his family had accompanied him to some of the promotional events.

"It's great because they had to sacrifice a lot, too, for this," he said. "I went away for a while, they came and visited, but it was a lot. It was a very long movie, very grueling shoot." When Damon returned home from filming in May 2025, he was sporting a full beard for his role as Odysseus.

Damon recently spoke about his daughters' potential futures in the film industry, noting that his eldest daughter, Alexia, already works as a cinematographer.

"She's done about 12 movies," Damon told E! News last month. "[She's] worked on the camera team all over the world."

When asked if his other daughters might pursue film careers, Damon said it was possible.

"The other three might," he said. "I have one who's at NYU now, who's a fantastic writer, so I could see her following me into screenwriting. And we have two still in high school, so we'll see."

Dating and family life
In a separate July interview with E! News, Damon described himself as a "pretty kind" father regarding his daughters' dating lives.

The "Jason Bourne" star said his children have "very wonderful tastes" in partners, but joked that he would wage war if necessary, comparing his stance to that of fellow actor Sean Penn.

Penn, the star of "One Battle After Another", previously made a veiled threat to his daughter Dylan Penn's childhood boyfriend.
"My favorite line that I've ever seen was Sean Penn's," Damon said, quoting Penn's 2015 appearance on "The Graham Norton Show". "'Whatever you do to her, I'm gonna do to you when you get home.'"
Damon, a Boston native, and Barroso began dating in the early 2000s, with Damon taking her to a baseball game in July 2004. They made their first public appearance as newlyweds in New York City in December 2005.
Red carpet premieres
Although Barroso did not know Damon when he and Ben Affleck won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for "Good Will Hunting" in 1998, they have attended the Oscars together since, including a date night in March 2010. They also attended the Met Gala together in May 2024.
The actor frequently brings his family to his film premieres. In July 2021, he brought Alexia, his mother Nancy Carlsson-Paige, and her husband Doug Kline to the New York City premiere of "Stillwater". He also attended the premiere of "Air" in March 2023.
Stella, Gia, and Alexia attended the Paris premiere of "Oppenheimer" in July 2023, while Alexia and Isabella joined their parents at the premiere of the Netflix film "The Rip" in January 2026.
The Damon family remains close with Affleck's family, who joined Barroso at the Los Angeles premiere of "Crime 101" in February 2026.
Most recently, Damon was joined by his wife and daughters at the London premiere of "The Odyssey" on July 6, before attending the film's New York City premiere at Lincoln Center on July 14 with Isabella.
