Kamchatka Krai will lose internet access for four days starting the night of August 12 due to communications line repairs, regional authorities warned.
Modernization work on the fiber-optic line will force the Russian region to switch to satellite resources. Internet access will be restricted during the upgrade, but mobile communications will continue to function.
Coastal erosion at Cape Levashov
Regional officials said the repairs are necessary because coastline erosion near Cape Levashov threatens to damage the cable through coastal collapse. The work is scheduled to take four days.
Separately, an emergency situation of natural origin was declared in Smolensk Oblast on August 6 due to downpours and strong winds.
