How to make natural and homemade body deodorants that really work against bad odor

A wide variety of deodorants are available on the market, but most of them have among their components some very questionable substances because they are derived from petroleum, endocrine disruptors or unnecessary antibiotics.

For example, one of the main ingredients in many of them is aluminum salt. This active ingredient clogs the pores.

The most recommended deodorants are those that have a natural or organic certification, however, those that can be made at home with ingredients that are easy to obtain are much more so.

Remove stains from the armpits: this is what the doctors say

Homemade deodorant typically has a shelf life of four to eight weeks. If a little vitamin E is added during its preparation, that shelf life can be extended, according to Body Mind.

In addition, essential oils can also lengthen its duration. For example, tea tree oil or lavender oil can help prevent mold growth.

How to make natural and homemade deodorants that do work

A homemade deodorant can provide protection as safe as conventional. Here are some formulas. They are all nice but, mainly, very effective.

deodorant cream with coconut oil

Coconut oil prevents the growth of bacteria that favor the appearance of unpleasant odors in the armpits, when we are stressed or exercising.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 4 tablespoons of pure baking soda
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 10 drops of essential oil, such as orange, lavender, or tea tree oil

Elaboration:

  • In summer, coconut oil is usually found in a liquid state. If it is solid, heat it in a water bath until it liquefies.
  • Add the baking soda and cornstarch.
  • Add the essential oil.
  • Before the batter has cooled, pour it into a screw-top jar.
  • Keep it in the bathroom cabinet.

To apply it, take the desired amount of deodorant with a spoon or spatula, rub it in your hands and spread it under your arms. Do not insert your fingers into the bottle so as not to contaminate it.

Depending on the time you apply the deodorant you can get a greater or lesser effect.

powder deodorant

Powder cosmetics are practically as old as humanity. Be sure to try this option.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of green clay
  • 4 – 5 drops of essential oil (optional)

Elaboration:

  • Mix the baking soda, cornstarch, and clay in a bowl.
  • Add the essential oil and mix until there are no lumps, the deodorant is ready.
  • The powder can be stored in a pretty box and is applied very thinly to clean, dry underarms with a makeup puff. One of the advantages of this deodorant is that it has a very long shelf life.

lemon spray deodorant

The lemon smells pleasantly fresh. Lemon deodorant is therefore perfect for party nights or the working day in summer.

Ingredients:

  • 80 ml of water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 organic lemon
  • 1 spray bottle

Elaboration:

  • Heat the water in a saucepan to 50 degrees.
  • Add the baking soda and stir well.
  • Let it cool down.
  • Wash the lemon with warm water (for the deodorant you need both the grated peel and the juice).
  • Add the juice and zest to the water and baking soda mixture and let the liquid sit for 1-2 hours.
  • Strain the liquid and pour it into the bottle.
