Greece is in the final stage of processing a supplementary round of payments for its emergency €150 financial benefit for every child, with the disbursement scheduled to be completed by the last days of August 2026.
The payment adds to an earlier disbursement of €220 million that went out at the end of June 2026. That first round left some families without the money because of gaps and pending issues that surfaced during the initial cross-checking of applicants' data, and the new payment is designed to close those gaps.
Who qualifies for the supplementary payment
The extra payment is aimed at three specific groups of families who did not receive the benefit in the first round.
- Families who met all of the income and asset requirements for the benefit but were left out of the first payment because of technical or administrative delays.
- Parents whose family grew in 2025, since children born that year were not recorded on the tax returns that covered 2024 income, the year used to assess eligibility for the first round.
- Parents of children born between January 1 and July 31, 2026, as long as they had already applied for a Tax Registration Number, known in Greece as an AFM, for the child by August 10.
How the benefit is protected and credited
According to ERT, Greece's state broadcaster, the €150 emergency benefit keeps all of the legal protections that apply to social transfers under Greek law.
The money cannot be seized by banks or by the state, is not subject to any withholding or taxation, and cannot be offset against confirmed debts owed to the Tax Administration or to Greece's Insurance Funds.
Married couples who file a joint tax return will have the full amount credited to the husband's bank account. Couples who file separate tax returns will instead have the benefit divided proportionally between the two parents.
