Georgiadis also announced that the new building will bear the name of Stavros Akouris, the President of the Gennadi Community. The designation was made to honour Akouris for his significant contribution and persistent efforts toward making the clinic a reality.

South Aegean Regional Governor Giorgos Hatzimarkos addressed the gathering to stress the extensive effort required to transform public funding into a completed project. Hatzimarkos stated that successfully completing such projects relies on strong cooperation, technical knowledge, determination and genuine interest from all involved parties.

Regional healthcare framework

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea, situated within the South Aegean administrative region. In Greece, primary public healthcare in island territories is overseen by regional health authorities known as YPE. The 2nd Regional Health Authority manages medical infrastructure across Piraeus and the Aegean islands, where Multipurpose Regional Clinics provide essential outpatient care and triage in rural areas before patients are transferred to full-scale health centres or regional hospitals.
